"The coffee issue in Hagers-town reminds me of a Rick Danko song, 'Java Blues.' And yes, Nazareth recorded a live version of the song."

- Greencastle, Pa.

"Does it appear to anyone else that neither party really wants to do anything about illegals? They pass bills they don't fund and recycle old policies that didn't work the first or second time around."

"I heard on the news a day that four ladies got fired for gossiping in the workplace; especially, I think they were gossiping about their boss. I just think that boss did a most marvelous thing, and I wish more authorities in our workplaces would fire people for gossiping, because it's one of the most dastardly and abominable things that can happen."

- Rohrersville

"In reference to Americans complaining about the rising cost of fuel prices at the pump, regardless of how high the fuel prices gets, Americans will still pay whatever the cost is. That's just the way it is in this country. It's not gonna stop Americans from going out, traveling or wasting this fuel. It's just that they like to moan and groan but they don't do anything about it."

"When running for election, the Democrats promised, they vowed to do something about this Iraq war, the high price of gas, and the earmarked additional spending attached to spending bills before them, and they've accomplished what they've promised. The gas prices are up 40 percent since they took control, they just approved with no strings attached additional billions for the Iraq war, and they dismantled the agency which reported earmarked spending to the taxpayer."

- Hagerstown

"The U.S. should and will need to go back to a military draft, for several reasons. One is that most of our young people need the discipline, and to learn respect. Get them off the streets. If they want to shoot people, let them do it legally by shooting our enemies. If they refuse to go into the service, and leave the country, that's better yet. The second reason: With all the immigrants, both legally and illegally coming to this country, not many are going to volunteer to join our armed forces, because they are so used to getting practically everything free."

- Hagerstown

"I was wondering if anyone else is having problems understanding the people that they get on the phone. I had a problem with a credit card company - and any other problems here lately that it seems like I have to call somewhere - the people, I can't understand what they are saying. I mean I might pick up bits and pieces of what they're saying. I don't know - I mean, to me this is really a big problem, because when you have a problem and you're speaking with someone that you can't understand what they're saying, there's no solution to the problem. I am just - this has happened so many times now - I'm just upset."

- Hagerstown

"I was just reading the polls in the paper today, and the people were talking about when our ancestors came over and ran the American Indians out of this country. I agree that that was wrong. It should never have happened, but what these people don't seem to understand is, when our ancestors moved into this country they didn't ask for a handout like all these illegal aliens are doing."

- Falling Waters, W.Va.

"In reference to this past Memorial Day, special tributes to and congratulations should be expressed to the St. Patrick's Chorale and The Maryland Theatre for their excellent concert, and also for Bill Divelbliss and Rose Hill for their always faithful memorial service. Great job."

- Leitersburg

"As a Redskins season ticket holder and Joe Gibbs fan, I find his position on Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Budweiser laughable. How much beer is sold at football games and NASCAR events? Didn't some of the beer money pay his coaching salary and NASCAR earnings? That's hypocritical. He could take the high road and let the car be painted about responsible drinking slogans and designated drivers, etc."

- Charles Town, W.Va.

"I am a former resident of the Beaver Creek and Mount Lena area, and want to say thank you for the townspeople for laying a wreath at the monument at the Mount Lena United Methodist Church to honor all men and women that served in the military. I am proud of them, and say thank you, because I lived most of my early years of life there in that area, and I have known a lot of the men and women that served and never came back to Mount Lena and that area. So thank you, and God bless all the people that had part in the service. May they live a life of happiness and freedom through the rest of their lives."

"If you're a watcher of 'The View,' naturally you have seen that fight coming between Rosie and Elisabeth, because I don't believe Rosie truly in her heart ever liked Elisabeth to start with, because she is very conservative. She's very much for her president and her country, whereas with Rosie's comments, I truly believe that not only is she a liberal, but I believe she hates this president and I truly believe she hates this country."
