A man charged with 23 criminal counts involving child pornography allegedly told police he tried to delete pictures of him and a boy kissing, but couldn't.

Police who searched the hard drive of a computer of the Hagerstown home of William A. Keck allegedly found graphic photos of the boy and video clips of adults engaged in sex with youths who appeared to be children.

Compact discs with handwritten labels including the titles "child porn 8 yo girl" and "boys pedo" also allegedly contained child pornography, and one folder with allegedly explicit images was called "userswilliamdocuments nastey," according to a charging document.

Keck, 21, of 800 Dual Highway, is charged with 19 counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of filming a sex act involving a child and one count of promoting or distributing child pornography, according to court documents.

A Washington County Sheriff's Department sergeant conducting an undercover computer operation was able to identify and download pornographic information from a computer using Internet services later linked to Keck's home, according to a charging document.

During an interview May 5 at the sheriff's department, Keck allegedly told police that acquaintances provided him with child pornography, but he reported them to the State's Attorney's Office. He said he also believed friends downloaded child pornography to his computer, but the material upset him and he asked that it be removed.

Later in the interview, Keck allegedly told police he videotaped a 10-year-old boy and him kissing around Jan. 1, but he denied having sexual contact with the child. He told police, "if you need my memory card, you can have it, just don't keep my camera," according to the charging document.

In a taped statement, Keck allegedly told police an attorney told his mother it was not safe for him to have a computer.

A Washington County Sheriff's Department deputy said Keck was at the county detention center Tuesday night. Court documents show his bail is set at $65,000.
