Captains blank Suns

May 29, 2007

EASTLAKE, Ohio - Sometimes you hit 'em.

Sometimes you don't.

The Hagerstown Suns didn't on Monday.

Lake County starter Jeanmar Gomez fired six scoreless innings as three Captains pitchers shut down the Suns on five hits for a 2-0 victory.

The loss ended the Suns' four-game winning streak. It was the third time Hagerstown has been shut out this season.

Gomez allowed three hits while striking out three. Paulo Espino struck out five more in his two innings before Neil Wagner nailed down his seventh save.

The Suns were held to five hits. Alex Nunez led with two of them, including a double.

Lake County got to Suns starter Yunior Novoa for both of its runs in the fifth.

Nick Weglarz led off the inning with a home run and Matt Whitney's two-out, RBI single accounted for all the scoring.
