You Said It

"A good friend of mine is a Republican, I am a Democrat. We agree on most things that most Republicans and Democrats seem to always differ on. We are for lowering taxes, getting rid of the illegal aliens, stopping the war and bringing our troops home, and taking care of our country first. The elderly, the veterans, helping those who need assistance, but making people get jobs, not just depending on 'the system.' What would you think if we ran a split-party ticket? What kind of shot do you think we would have?"

"The other day I stumbled onto something that is of some interest. I saw a way that we can reduce the rising price of gas that we all have to face. I will give two Web addresses here so you can see for yourself what I am talking about. The addresses are www.ethosnw.com and www.ethosfr.com. What this is is a fuel reformulator that can add 7 to 19 percent to your MPG, and it's also good for your engine and reduces pollution. On one of the Web sites, you can read actual letters from people who have tried this. The hope for me doing this is that if enough people start using this, gas prices could possibly come down since the demand would go down."

"The caller who said they will deliberately blow smoke in people's faces: How do you know, when standing out in public, who is a smoker walking by you and who is not? You are either a very young, defiant person or an 'adult' with an attitude. Most stores now are asking employees to smoke out of the sight of customers entering the store. Please do not have a bad attitude toward nonsmokers simply because you are a slave to a habit you don't have enough faith in yourself to quit."

"Applause to Mr. Walt Williams for standing up for the youth of Williamsport. It seems the town has found themselves in a budget crunch and decided to pick on the easy target, the kids. Being the father of three children in the league brings many hours of volunteer work in concession stands and on the field. I find it audacious that the town would try such a stunt. Mr. Williams has worked extremely hard to build the Little League system here in Williamsport."

"I'm watching 'The Alamo,' version with John Wayne. It's a shame - looks like those boys died for nothing. One hundred and sixty years later, what do you have? Southern California, Mexico, New Mexico and Mexico, Nevada and Mexico, Arizona and Mexico, and Texas and Mexico. Mexico is taking over a third of this country already."

"A friend of mine told me about the whole child rape at Oak Ridge Apartments, and I don't understand why there's not more news coverage about it. We all focus about the drugs in the city, and about Bush, but nobody seems to care about something this horrible. I just can't believe there's no composite sketch or any other real information to keep people trying to find this guy, because he's still on the loose. It's just such a terrible thing. I think as a city we really need to work harder to protect the children, and really do the best that we can to try to catch this guy, get more word out. Some more information about it in the newspaper I think would be better. We really need to be focusing on this child rapist before he does it again."

"The smokers just don't get it. The ban was partially passed to protect the employees of those establishments who don't have a choice as to working in a smoking or nonsmoking section."

"In reference to the Smithsburg caller who says he was amazed because Jimmy Carter gave us double-digit inflation was wrong. The inflation he took over came from Nixon. It was so high and things were so bad that Nixon put a freeze on raises and price increases and everything. That's what Carter inherited from him."

"I'm calling about the person who said of the ones who blow cigarette smoke in your face when you enter a place, if you don't like it, just hold your breath. This shows how rude, how very rude cigarette smokers are. I'm sure perhaps not every one of them, but many, many of them are going to blow smoke in your face because they want their right to smoke."

"I'm a concerned correctional officer. They're getting ready to cut posts to save money on overtime, which will put us in jeopardy. I would appreciate it if you could post this so the public could know."

"Congratulations to the South Hagerstown High alumni group who had a wonderful dinner for us Saturday evening at the old remodeled school gym. It was fantastic. Lou Scally was the DJ, the food from Always Ron's was really delicious, and I got to see a lot of old friends and make some new friends. I just wanted to say 'Way to go.' For those of you who didn't get to go, think about next year, because they're gonna make it an annual event."
