Feathers charges to Bonebrake win

May 28, 2007

Bo Feathers took the lead on the 26th lap and sped away to win the 12th annual Richard "Boney" Bonebrake Tribute 40-lap event Saturday night.

The victory was Feathers' second this season.

"I know what Denny did and know what his dad did," said Feathers, of Winchester, Va. "It's amazing the history that came from this place with some of the people. To win a race like this means a lot."

Feathers began 11th and entered the top five on the 13th lap. He got by Marvin Winters for second following a restart on Lap 15th lap restart and then battled Ray Kable Jr. side by side until Feathers finally got ahead just before a Lap-26 caution.

"That was a good (race)," Denny Bonebrake said. "They ran side by side for about 10 or 12 laps. We're really happy for (Bo). That's the way we like to see people win them."

Pete Weaver, of Williamsport, scored the victory in the Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic late model sportsman 20-lap event by grabbing the lead from Al Shawver Sr. with six laps to go.

Darrin Younker went from the sixth starting spot straight to the front on the opening lap of the Ernie's Auto Enterprises pure stock event and led all the way to win his second race of the season.
