Smithsburg boys win overall track team title

BALTIMORE - Jamal Campbell won two more gold medals Saturday to go with the one he earned Thursday and Chad Brown added another as the Smithsburg High School boys won their second straight and fifth overall Class 1A team title at the Maryland Track & Field Championships at Morgan State University.

Campbell placed first in the 110-meter hurdles (14.99 seconds) and the triple jump (44 feet, 1/4 inch) to go with Thursday's gold in the long jump. Brown finished first in the 100 (10.82 seconds), third in the 200 and fourth in the 400.

Other winners were:

·Jarell Hasan, North Hagerstown - Hasan won the Class 2A boys 100 in 10.79 seconds and the 200 in 21.70 seconds.


·Mike Lilley, Williamsport - Lilley won the Class 1A boys 1,600 in 4 minutes, 29.59 seconds.

·Hayley Harnett, Boonsboro - Harnett won the Class 1A girls 800 in 2 minutes, 19.57 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 7 1/2 inches.

·Paige Shirk, Clear Spring - Shirk won the Class 1A girls shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 11 1/4 inches.

·Cayla Broadwater, Williamsport - Broadwater won the Class 1A girls high jump by clearing 5 feet, 2 inches.
