SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Waynesboro's Terrell Rickard won the Class AAA boys high jump by clearing 6 feet, 10 inches Saturday at the PIAA Track & Field Championships at Shippensburg University.

Three other area athletes brought home silver medals from the meet.

·McConnellsburg's Chris Snyder was second in the Class AA boys 1,600 in 4 minutes, 20.61 seconds.

·Chambersburg's Anyssa Barbour was second in the Class AAA girls 100 in 12.14 seconds. She also finished fourth in the 200 in 25.21 seconds.

·Chambersburg's Sarah Morrison was second in the Class AAA girls 1,600 in 4:56.18, finishing behind Shippensburg's Neely Spence (4:50.98).

Chambersburg's Amanda Collier tied for 14th place in the Class AAA girls pole vault, but equaled the Tri-State record of 10-6 set by Williamsport's Sarah McDonald in 2000.

The Chambersburg boys 3,200 relay team bettered the Tri-State record they set Friday, finishing in 7:50.70. They placed seventh.


James Buchanan's Dion Lehman was fourth in the Class AAA boys long jump with a leap of 22-10 1/4.


Mercersburg wins state title

PENNSBURG, Pa. - Cord Heine hit his 13th home run of the season and Kenny Burns added a grand slam to lead Mercersburg Academy to a 12-2 win over Chestnut Hill to win the Pennsylvania Independent Schools State Tournament championship.

Heine and Burns each had three hits for the Blue Storm (18-11) in the championship game, while Drew Crofton added a two-run homer.

Mercersburg advanced to the final with a 12-9 win over Germantown Friends. Burns was 5-for-5, Dan Gottlieb was 4-for-5 with five RBI and Heine was 4-for-4 with four RBI.
