May 27, 2007

Hagerstown Suns outfielder Chris Marrero was named the South Atlantic League Offensive Player of the Week for May 14-20.

Marrero leads the Suns with 12 home runs and is second in the league with 44 RBI.

Marrero had 11 hits, including three home runs, for a .380 batting average for the week. He also had a .724 slugging percentage, the fifth best in the SAL for the week.

Marrero started work on a possible second straight award with a walk-off home run in the 12th inning to lift the Suns to a 9-8 win over Delmarva on Friday.

Marrero is the third Suns player to be named a player of the week. Justin Maxwell won the offensive award and Justin Jones was named top pitcher for May 7-13.
