Municipal Stadium hosted many mothers, fundraisers and breast cancer awareness programs on Mother's Day weekend.
The second annual "Pitching Pink" celebration was expanded from a one-day campaign in 2006 to a full weekend this year. More than 6,300 fans attended games over Mother's Day weekend, and the Hagerstown Suns raised $3,707 to be donated to Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley (BCA-CV).
Lite 95.7 FM, The Real Red Barron, Phoenix Color and Associated Radiologists were sponsors of the "Pitching Pink" weekend. Y2Knit was present all three days, and donated three knitted blankets that were raffled during the weekend.
The weekend began Friday night with the Suns' first Friday night fireworks show of the season. The Suns held their second annual "Shirt Off Our Backs" pink jersey auction on Saturday night. Suns players wore pink jerseys during the game as a silent auction of their game-worn jerseys occurred simultaneously. Twenty-nine jerseys and one pink team-autographed, game-used base were auctioned.
