Carjacking victim says he was arranging to sell shoes

May 24, 2007

The victim of an alleged carjacking April 10 at 7-Eleven on Salem Avenue told police the man who took his 1995 Ford Windstar met him in the parking lot as part of an arrangement to buy sneakers, according to a charging document.

Jesten Larry Waller, 26, of Cincinnati, who is charged with armed carjacking, first-degree assault and theft of more than $500 worth of items, was being held at Washington County Detention Center, a deputy said.

Bail for Waller was set at $400,000 Wednesday, court documents show.

The victim, who was selling shoes and clothing for B More Clothing out of his van at the time of the theft, arranged to meet with an unknown customer at the 7-Eleven by phone. When he got there, Waller allegedly demanded the van and drove off with the merchandise, according to the charging document.

The van was recovered the next day from the 600 block of Linganore Street, but the merchandise was gone, the document states.
