The man accused of robbing the Williamsport Pharmacy and taking a vehicle at gunpoint was being held Wednesday at Washington County Detention Center, according to a deputy.

Bail for Jamie Parker Barnes, who was arrested Saturday in Virginia, was ordered to remain at $450,000 during a hearing Wednesday.

Barnes, 41, of 11301 Grandview Drive in Waynesboro, Pa., allegedly showed a handgun May 2 and told employees at Williamsport Pharmacy that he needed OxyContin because his mother was dying of cancer. OxyContin, hydrocodone and oxycodone worth $3,438.52 were taken from the pharmacy, according to a court charging document.

Minutes after the pharmacy robbery, Barnes allegedly carjacked a woman driving near Governor Lane Boulevard and Lappans Road, telling her his mother was dying, according to the document.
