Deployment ceremony to close road, limit parking lane use

FREDERICK, Md. - The Maryland National Guard will hold a deployment ceremony Friday, May 25, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Baker Park band shell prior to its scheduled deployment to Iraq.

In preparation for the event, West 2nd Street between Bentz Street and College Avenue will be closed to all traffic during that time.

In addition, the parking lanes of the following streets will be reserved:

· Carroll Parkway from Bentz Street to College Avenue

· College Avenue from Carroll Parkway to West 2nd Street

· West 2nd Street from College Avenue to Bentz Street

· 200 block of North Bentz

· Memorial Parkway

Garbage collection altered for Memorial Day

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The City of Martinsburg offices will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday.

Garbage usually collected on Monday will be picked up Tuesday, and garbage typically collected Tuesday will be picked up Wednesday. Service will return to its normal schedule on Thursday, May 31.

Recycling will remain on schedule.
