BlueClaws clamp down on Suns for shutout

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Pitchers Kyle Drabek and Alexander Concepcion combined on a two-hit shutout and the Lakewood BlueClaws blew out the Hagerstown Suns 8-0 on Monday in the South Atlantic League.

The Suns committed three errors on the way to dropping the first game in the four-game series.

Lakewood took a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Carl Henry, Douglas Morales and Jason Donald each singled - Donald's drove in a run - and Quintin Berry drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

The BlueClaws added single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh, then capped the rout with three runs in the eighth, including P.J. Antoniato's two-run triple and Berry's RBI single.

Drabek (4-1) allowed both Suns hits in his seven innings of work while walking four and striking out five. Concepcion walked one and struck out three in his two innings.

Suns starter Marco Estrada (1-5) was charged with four runs - two earned - on six hits in four-plus innings. He walked four and struck out three.

Hagerstown reliever Juan De Los Santos was the victim of the BlueClaws' eighth inning, giving up the three runs on four hits in one-third of an inning.
