Washington County Hospital held an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony May 8 at the newly renovated Express Care.
The new Express Care, formerly adjacent to the emergency department, was relocated to an expanded area between the emergency department waiting area and the security department.
The new area has seven patient treatment areas, an increase from the four areas available at the previous location. Daily hours of operation have been extended by four hours, from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Relocating Express Care has also allowed for the addition of six treatment rooms to the emergency department. Prior to renovations, the emergency department and Express Care were designed to accommodate 45,000 patient visits annually, but were actually seeing a combined total of nearly 70,000 patients per year.
