Students at Maugansville send items to sick children

May 21, 2007

Maugansville Elementary School students in March completed their second Jared Box Project, collecting and packing more than 300 boxes for children who are patients at Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital.

Students packed boxes with toys, games, crayons and other items, and wrote notes of encouragement to the patients.

School partners - State Farm Insurance Co., A.C. Moore and Berwick-Offray Ribbon Co. - assisted with contributions.

The Jared Box Project began in 2000 when students at Our Lady of Victory School in State College, Pa., packed boxes to honor a classmate who had cancer.
