Water mains to be replaced

Work crews from the City of Hagerstown Water Department will begin replacement of water mains Monday on Northern Avenue between Fountainhead Road and the American Legion property, according to a City of Hagerstown press release.

Work hours will be from Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., unless longer hours are required.

Temporary lane closures will be established around the work zone. Delays are likely, and motorists are advised to seek other routes.

Emergency vehicles will be able to pass through the work zone, according to the release.

Work is expected to be completed by Aug. 21.

Locust Street to close for project

Work crews from Henson & Son Inc. will begin excavation work Tuesday at the intersection of North Locust Street and Randolph Avenue to replace deteriorated storm drain lines, according to a City of Hagerstown press release.

North Locust Street will close to all traffic between East Avenue and Randolph Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each workday. Traffic will be detoured via Jonathan Street and North Avenue.

Locust Street will be open to traffic at night and on weekends.

Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through the area during work hours.

Work is expected to be completed about June 4.
