Storm drain work delayed

May 19, 2007

A storm drain reconstruction project at the intersection of Maryland Avenue and West Wilson Boulevard was postponed from its previously reported start date of Monday, according to a press release from the City of Hagerstown.

Work crews from Henson & Son Inc. now will begin excavation work to install new storm drain lines at the intersection on or about May 30.

The project is expected to continue until mid-August, and will involve lane closures and shifting lanes on all four legs of the intersection at various times. Traffic on Wilson Boulevard will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction throughout most of the project, but will not be closed.

Maryland Avenue will be closed to all traffic between West Wilson Boulevard and Downsville Road for a few weeks beginning as early as June 4. During this closure, traffic will be detoured around the work zone via Downsville Road and South Potomac Street.

Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through the Maryland Avenue work area, but will be able to pass through Wilson Boulevard at all times.

Upon completion of the storm drain work, West Wilson Boulevard will be repaved.
