Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will offer the following classes:

For adults and teens

· Landscapes in watercolor, summer workshop - 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 11, to June 14. Instructor is Kent Roberts.

· Introduction to portrait painting - 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, June 12 to 15. Instructor is Kent Roberts.

· Decorative furniture painting - 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, June 26 to June 29. Instructor is Allison Weaver.

· Beginning drawing studio for ages 11 through adult - 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tueday through Friday, June 26, to June 29. Instructor is Mike Gouker.

For children

· Young at art for ages 4 to 6 - 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, June 12, to June 15. Instructor is Kathryn Lant.

· Introduction to watercolor for kids for ages 10 to 13 - 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, June 12, to 15. Instructor is Kent Roberts.

· Art explosion for people with mental and physical disabilities ages 5 to 12 - 10 a.m. to noon, Saturdays, June 16 to June 30. Instructor is Heidi Coble.

· Storyteller art adventures for ages 5 to 7 - 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Friday, June 19 to June 22. Instructor is Brandi Daly.

· Knights, Castles & Dragons - Oh My! for ages 7 to 12 - 1 to 4 p.m. Tuedsay through Friday, June 19 to June 22. Instructor is Brandi Daly.

· "Under the Sea" art exploration for ages 4 to 7 - 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Friday, June 26 to 29. Instructor is Heather Wiles.

Emergency preparedness training

Sahaja yoga

Learn a method of meditation in which a person becomes moral, united, integrated and balanced. Lifeguard training

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation will offer an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training class. Participants must have completed Level V of ARC swim instruction and be 15 years old prior to the start of class. A swim skills test will be administered the first day of class. Jeans-sewing class

Barbara Allen will show students ages 11 to 16 how to turn an old pair of jeans into a skirt or handbag using fabric, trim, buttons and patches. Students need to bring scissors, seam ripper, measuring tape, marking pencil, ruler, straight pins and some ideas about a design. 9 a.m. to noon. Landscape planning



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Your landscape from dream to reality. Water safety instructor training

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - For individuals wishing to become American Red Cross water safety instructors. Enrollees must be 16 years old. Part of the class will involve mandatory student teaching during the first session of ARC swim lessons during the first session. 6 to 9 p.m. through Friday, June 15; and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 18, through Friday, June 29. Fun, Fun, Fun & Fit

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg YMCA will host Fun, Fun, Fun & Fit, a class for kids to come and experience games and activities. First session: Monday, June 11, to Saturday, July 14. Second session: Monday, July 16, to Saturday, Aug. 18. Grades three through seven meet from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Chambersburg YMCA. Civil War seminar

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War will present "Mystic Chords of Memory: How Americans have remembered and commemorated the Civil War." Tours will include Civil War commemoration on the Antietam Battlefield and in Washington, D.C. Continues through Sunday, June 24. George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War, Shepherd University.
