"Is there anyone capable of lighting a fire under the Orioles? After Sunday's meltdown in Boston, the Orioles appear destined yet again to portray themselves as the 'Arizona Cardinals' of baseball. Inconsistent offensively, questionable starting pitching, and a $42 million core of relievers who can't seem to get anybody out. It seems inevitable a change in managers can't be far away, and that's really unfortunate. Sam Perlozzo seems to be the only one giving 110 percent, and will be rewarded by being the first to be shown the door."
The person who claims that not pumping gas on a certain date will bring the price of gas down is either grossly misinformed or is perpetrating a hoax. It will take nothing out of the oil companies' pocket, but will only cause temporary hardship for station operators and those who need gas that day. Anyone with common sense knows that drivers will still buy the gas they need, either before or after the proposed one-day gas-out, so it will have no effect on price."

"I think it is absurd that the government can ban smoking wherever it pleases and then allows street festivals to promote the use of alcohol. Have we forgotten the family abuse, drunken driving and personal tragedies which are the result of alcohol? Guess it's just overlooked as long as there is a financial benefit."
"The 'don't pump gas on May 15th' challenge, which was in You Said It and has been circulating on the Internet, is a good example of an appeal to people without a brain. Just think about it, not buying gas on a given day does not accomplish a thing; not buying gas at all will. If Americans want to have an effect on gas prices, they need to stop burning it. Walk to the store, car pool or don't go at all, but cut down on consumption and the price will come down."
"This is to the person in Ringgold who wanted to know whatever happened to the milk of human kindness, and worried about the refugees trying to get over here. If you're worried about the milk of kindness, why don't you take the money out of your own pocket and give it to them, instead of asking the taxpayers?"

"Everyone likes iced drinks in the summer. Guess what? So does your pets. Next time you clean and fill their water bowls, throw in some ice cubes. I do it all summer long, and I am rewarded with lots of ice-cold licks."
"I see more and more of these little motor scooters and minibikes here in town. I don't know if they're allowed on the streets or not. Evidently they are, or I wouldn't see so many of them, but doesn't somebody out there agree with me that these people riding them, especially the younger kids, shouldn't they have helmets on?"

"I read a comment in the paper about the dead deer carcasses lying on the roadway. If whomever would take responsibility and phone the dead deer in to the proper officials, then they could notify the person who is to pick it up. Then they won't have to look at the carcasses."

"What in the world is this country coming to? Now I hear (an insurance company) will pay for people to go overseas to have operations, because it's cheaper. If they can do that, then they can afford to help the retired people and older people pay for their medicine. It's pretty bad when you order medicine from a mail order house in February, then order the same thing in May, and the price has jumped from $220 to $994, for the same kind of medicine. Retired people get a raise in January. They don't have this kind of money to pay out all at one time, because after you buy $5,000 worth of medicine from them, then they sock you."
