Council votes to keep tax rates the same

CLEAR SPRING - The Clear Spring Town Council voted unanimously Monday to keep tax rates the same.

The real estate tax rate will remain at 19 cents per every $100 of assessed property value. Residents will receive a 5 percent discount if they pay in July.

The personal property tax rate, which applies to businesses, will be 50 cents per $100, which is the current rate.

The town's water and sewer rates also will remain the same, and there will be no fee for trash collection.

Budget introduced

CLEAR SPRING - The budget for Clear Spring was introduced Monday during a town meeting.

A public meeting on the fiscal year 2007-08 budget will be June 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

The revenue for the year is listed as $532,530, the same as the town's expenditures.

According to the draft budget, $83,727 will be spent on general fund expenses, and more than $265,531 will be spent from the water fund.


Expenses in the sewer fund are listed at more than $330,000, and highway expenses are $48,110.

Mowing contract wins approval

CLEAR SPRING - The Clear Spring Town Council voted unanimously Monday to approve a grass mowing contract.

The town will remain with the same company it currently uses, which will charge $49 for each cut.

Spring cleanup held

CLEAR SPRING - Spring cleanup was held last week in Clear Spring.

Town Council members said the bulk trash, lawn debris and other items were picked up May 7 to 10.
