McHENRY, Md. - Andy Altemus pitched a five-hitter with eight strikeouts as Potomac State beat Hagerstown Community College 5-1 Sunday in the championship game of the Region XX tournament Sunday, ending the Hawks' season.

Potomac State took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and scored its final two runs in the seventh. The Hawks (33-22) scored their run in the third.

HCC starter Ron Tobolski (7-3) went 7 2/3 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out five.

Matt Murray and Jacob Darr each had two hits for HCC, which left 13 runners on base.

Murray, Tobolski and Matt Knight were named to the all-tournament team for the Hawks.


Lilley, Banister win 5K titles

Williamsport High School sophomore Mike Lilley led 77 runners to the finish line Saturday at the Total Rehab Care 5K at Marty Snook Park, winning the men's title in 17:38.


Lindsey Banister, 21, of Hagerstown was the women's champ in 21:10.

Rouning out the men's top three were Naseem Haje, 15, of Hagerstown in 18:06 and Zachary Newman, 24, of Hagerstown in 18:19. John Doub, 50, of Waynesboro, Pa., was the masters champ and fourth overall in 18:45.

Lauren Meckley, 18, of Waynesboro was the women's runner-up in 21:24, and women's masters champ Pamela Scott, 45, of Lemont, Pa., was the third female in 23:14.
