Pa. man, 82, is 2nd pedestrian death in Franklin Co. this month

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - An 82-year-old Chambersburg man has died from injuries received when he was hit by a vehicle Saturday, according to a news release from Chambersburg police.

Lester E. Malone was taken to Chambersburg Hospital after the 12:41 p.m. accident, then flown to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Malone was crossing the street at the intersection of Lincoln Way East and Fourth Street, police said.

Police, who were continuing their investigation, have asked anyone with information about the accident to call them at 717-264-4131 or to call Franklin County (Pa.) Crime Solvers at 717-263-3000.

Malone's death was the second fatality this month involving a senior citizen crossing a street in Franklin County.

On May 1, Joseph Stewart, of Foulger Street in Waynesboro, was hit by a pickup truck on South Potomac Street in the borough.
