Bonanza's big winner from Mount Airy, Md.

May 14, 2007

A Mount Airy, Md., resident was the owner of a raffle ticket worth $100,000, according to Washington County Fire & Rescue Association President G. Glenn Fuscsick, who called the big winner of the weekend's Bonanza Extravaganza at Hagerstown Speedway.

Fuscscick said Sunday that he still was notifying people who won prizes in Saturday's drawings at the Bonanza Extravaganza, which raised money for the foundation that represents International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1605 and area rescue companies.

Fuscsick called the event a success, but said he did not expect to know for several weeks how much money was raised. Because participants had to be present to win Friday, the first day of the event, Fuscsick said that crowd - more than 6,000 people - was much larger than the crowd on opening night last year, when just about 800 people turned out. Fuscsick estimated 6,000 to 8,000 people attended Saturday's event.

Ten thousand tickets were sold for the event, Fuscsick said.
