Correction

May 13, 2007

Due to a source's error, a story about trans fat that appeared on the Health page in the Monday, May 7, editions of The Morning Herald and The Daily Mail incorrectly listed salad dressing as a major source of trans fat for American adults.

The Food and Drug Administration no longer considers salad dressing a major source of trans fat for American adults, although some dressings might still contain trans fat. Consumers should check the nutrition facts labels of dressings to see if they contain partially hydrogenated oil.

The Herald-Mail apologizes for the error.
