The Lowrys

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard E. Lowry of Hagerstown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary April 2, 2007. An anniversary dinner hosted by their three children and five grandchildren and their spouses was held in their honor, April 1, 2007, at Evangel Baptist Church in Hagerstown.

The Lowrys were married at the home of the Rev. David Petre on Broadfording Church Road in 1947.

Mrs. Lowry is the former Dorothy Cecilia Bartles, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bartles. She is a homemaker. Mr. Lowry is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William I. Lowry. He graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1941.

Mr. and Mrs. Lowry retired from dairy farming in 1985.

The Moatses

Robert "Pete" and Mary Louise Moats of Williamsport celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006. Their daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Gary Frey, and grandsons Garrison and Brendan Frey hosted the event at their home in Mount Airy, Md.


Friends and family members enjoyed luncheon and reminisced the couple's lives through stories and pictures. The Moatses were married Nov. 24, 1956, at Williamsport United Methodist Church by the late Rev. Gordon Clews.

Mrs. Moats is the former Mary Louise Scott, daughter of the late Edward M. and Zoe (Mellott) Scott of Williamsport. She retired from Redland Brick Co. in 1993.

Mr. Moats is the son of Margaret (King) Moats and the late Howard Moats of Conococheague, Md. He retired from Redland Brick Co. in 1999.
