SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Megan Holmes tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts, and her RBI single in the fifth inning gave Musselman a 2-1 victory over Hedgesville in the West Virginia Class AAA Region II semifinals on Thursday night.

Whitney Mathias doubled to set up Holmes' game-winning hit for the Applemen (21-8).

Musselman took a 1-0 lead in the third when Lacey Williams singled and later scored on an error.

Hedgesville (29-4) tied it in the fourth. Chelsea Oals walked, Sara Forney singled and an error allowed Oals to score.

Jess Shirley (21-4) allowed five hits and struck out four for the Eagles, who left seven runners in scoring position. Forney finished with two hits.

No. 2 Greencastle 4, Trinity 1

CAMP HILL, Pa. - Amanda Ritchey had two hits, including a triple, to lead Greencastle-Antrim in a Mid-Penn Capital victory.

Sarah Signore struck out 10 and added a triple, while Kali Ball had two RBI for the Blue Devils (15-4, 12-2). Greencastle-Antrim earned a share of the Mid-Penn Capital title.


Bishop Walsh 5, Goretti 2

CUMBERLAND, Md. - Gabby Turrano had a double to lead St. Maria Goretti (3-19) in a loss to Bishop Walsh.

Mercersburg 10, MSD 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Cree Riley and Leigh Saner combined for a no-hitter as Mercersburg defeated Maryland School for the Deaf.

Lauren Dobish had two hits and the Blue Storm (10-8) totalled 10 hits and nine walks.


Flint Hill 11, St. James 8

FLINT HILL, Va. - Jimmy Sutch had two hits, including a solo home run in the fourth inning, for the Saints (5-10). Grant McWilliams also had two hits.

Shalom 11, Grace 8

Brad Hess went 3-for-3 with five RBI to lead Shalom Christian Academy to a Mason Dixon Christian Conference Championship victory.

Brandon Hess went 4-for-4, Kenny Frederickson had two hits and three RBI and Tim Carver added two hits to lead Grace Academy (7-3).


St. James 11, Highland School 5

SAINT JAMES - Caroline Salisbury led the Saints with five goals, Jina Hontz and Anna Morrow had two goals each, and Kelsey Hilton and Gina Clapp had one goal each. Leila Chouai had two assists, and Allie Marriott had 11 saves on 16 shots.


St. James 8, St. Andrews 4

SAINT JAMES - Down 2-1 at the half, the Saints (17-1) rallied back to post a Mid Atlantic Conference quarterfinal win. P.J. Mara had four goals and two assists, Henry Warner had two goals, and Troy Gogoll had one goal and two assists.


Heritage Academy 2, Broadfording 1

HERITAGE - In an MDCC second-round playoff game, Brianna Dorsey scored both goals to lead Heritage (13-1,10-1) and Molly Holtzman had one assist.

Amber Grimm had Broadfording's only goal.


Lyda, Golden split

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Eric Lyda of Berkeley Springs defeated Kevin Queen of Logan High 8-6 in the first round of the West Virginia State Tournament. Lyda fell to Chad Brady of Bluefield High 6-0, 6-0 in round two.

Denny Golden defeated Brent Thornhill of Logan 8-6 in the first round, but lost to Cory Warner of Bluefield 6-3, 6-3 in round two.

Mercersburg's Nevarez wins MAPL Girls Invitational

BLAIRSTOWN, N.J. - Ana Nevarez shot a one-under-par 35 to win the MAPL Girl's Invitational at Blair Academy Golf Course by seven strokes. Her round included an eagle and 11 putts.

Nevarez recorded a hole-in-one Tuesday on Whitetail's third hole, a 126-yard par 3. The ace was witnessed by Sonia Byun and her coach Paul Galey.

St. Stephens & St. Agnes 201, Mercersburg 217

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Chris Kerry, Ben Hayes and Kyle Roy all carded 41s for the Blue Storm in a loss to St. Stephens & St. Agnes at Belle Haven Country Club.

Ben Mellott had a 45.
