Long Meadow ducks in Howard County

May 09, 2007|by ERIN CUNNINGHAM

A mother duck and her nine ducklings that were rescued Monday along a busy Hagerstown street were taken to an animal shelter in Howard County, Md.

Washington County Humane Society spokeswoman Katherine Cooker said Tuesday that the ducks went to Friskies Rescue for rehabilitation. Attempts to contact that shelter were unsuccessful.

Eight of the ducklings slipped through a sewer drain Monday as they attempted to cross in front of traffic at Leitersburg Pike near the former Sears building at Long Meadow Shopping Center.
