Elliott to address Mont Alto grads

MONT ALTO, Pa. - G. Warren Elliott, Franklin County commissioner and Penn State Mont Alto alumnus, will serve as the commencement speaker during the May 19 ceremony at Penn State Mont Alto.

The commencement ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the Multipurpose Activities Center. Approximately 140 students are expected to participate.

Elliott attended Penn State Mont Alto and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in public administration from Shippensburg (Pa.) University in 1976 and a master's degree in public administration from Shippensburg in 1977.

Elliott is the chairman of the Franklin County Board of Commissioners and a senior regional representative for General Code Publishers of Rochester, N.Y.

Under his leadership, Franklin County's Farmland Preservation Program increased from 23rd in the state to eighth, with more than 10,000 acres preserved. He is the only county commissioner in Pennsylvania to sit on the State Farmland Preservation Board.

Tickets are required for guest admission to the ceremony, and seating is first come, first served.

The gymnasium doors will open at 9 a.m. Guests are asked to be seated by 9:45 a.m. The first row of seats will be reserved for those who are unable to climb, and there will be wheelchair-accessible seats on the floor of the gymnasium.
