Locks of Love donor had special motivation

SMITHSBURG - Emma Worthington may not be the first youngster to contribute her hair to Locks of Love but the 11-year-old Smithsburg girl certainly can empathize with those who have lost their hair because of treatment for cancer.

As shown in the "before" picture, Emma holds a picture of herself as she looked at age 5 when she was battling Rhabdomyosarcoma at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Emma recently had 10 1/2 inches of her hair cut for use in making wigs for cancer patients who have lost their hair, as she did six years ago.

The "after" picture shows Emma with her new hairdo.
