Police respond to domestic dispute on Potomac River

A report of a domestic dispute in a boat in the Potomac River off Dam No. 5 late Tuesday brought out quite a few police - on the ground, on the water and in the air.

The incident began around 10:30 p.m. as a result of a cellphone call from a woman in a boat saying she was being assaulted by the man who was with her on the river, according to Washington County Sheriff's deputies.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police responded to the incident along with deputies. A helicopter was deployed to help locate the couple.

A 24-year-old Hagerstown man was taken off the boat and charged with assault, obstructing and hindering police, deputies said.

Ronald William Curry III was taken before a bond commissioner early this morning and released on personal recognizance, deputies said.

According to records at the commissioner's office, Curry's address was listed as 209 Belview Ave.

Deputies drove the woman home.
