"I am glad to see we are finally going to drill for our own oil. I hope this will get us out of dependence on the Middle East and the possible crippling effect the loss of Middle East oil would have on our country. Now we must fight to get the measure passed by our political leaders."
"Thank you Christine Brugh for the article on the 37th anniversary of the Kent State shootings. You did a great job of telling the story from all sides."
"I'm calling about the cell phone and BlackBerry use while driving. I turned the corner of Cannon Avenue and turned onto East Avenue, and I looked both ways and there was nothing coming, so I started to cross. Lo and behold, a woman came by - I won't say speeding by, but she was not doing the speed limit for that particular area. She was on her cell phone. Her mind was on that phone conversation, and I have to believe she did not even see me. She has a certain responsibility to be looking out for pedestrians, especially since I was halfway in the street crossing. She came so close to hitting me, and I'm especially upset because I have two replaced hips, one replaced knee, and I don't think she or her insurance company wants to foot the bill to repair my physical injuries."

"I did not get to read the first article about the Mount Tammany playground, but in Friday's paper was an article about the Mount Tammany playground. The county has bought the Mount Tammany playground, plus the piece of ground behind the Mount Tammany playground, clear to the fence on I-81 that is being mowed by the county. The county did buy all of those acres."

"I'm so disgusted to how often families are taken advantage of when going through grief. Beware of what all you need to know, as ignorance is not an excuse."

"I'll never forget, back - I think it might have been in the '60s, when they were burning the flags, burning their bras, burning anything they could find, rebelling against anything. I heard a newscaster say that these are the people that are going to be leading our country someday. I'll guarantee we're seeing what's happening. Democrats and Republicans alike, they're in it for themselves. They're not really in it for the country. The country comes second. It's what everything can do for them that works best."

"I don't think that the prison's education system applies as a private school. I don't think that I want to send my children to a private school if they have to get in trouble to go, and I think that it's wrong that someone's awarded being a good teacher for a private school because all the other private schools are being paid for."

"To the person from Hagerstown calling about the smoking ban, saying that they're banning smoking because of lung cancer; why do they not ban alcohol that causes liver damage: The reason they banned smoking for lung cancer is because it can also give people around them that do not smoke lung cancer. Someone drinking alcohol standing beside me cannot give me liver damage. It's only gonna damage his liver; however, I still think alcohol should be banned because they can have wrecks and kill people because of being drunk."
"This call is in response to the caller in Clear Spring, commenting on Sen. Reid's statement about losing the war. It says 'How does Harry Reid know more about Iraq than the general who is there? Wise up.' Evidently just about anybody knows about what's going on in Iraq than the generals do. They've been over there for five years, which is longer than World War II, and they've all messed it up and nobody's got it right, so none of the generals know what they're doing."

"I read with great interest a flier for the HCC's College for Kids this summer, but at $145 to $155 a week, my family can't afford that, even though we are middle class."
