Pa. court brief

May 03, 2007

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man convicted of possession with intent to deliver cocaine was sentenced Wednesday in Franklin County Court to one to four years in state prison.

Ryan Michael Jones of 2742 White Church Road, Chambersburg, pleaded guilty to the charge on April 11, according to court records. Jones, who turned 26 Wednesday, was fined $500 by Judge John R., Walker.

Jones had been charged in an incident that began in the parking lot of Hardee's, 625 Lincoln Way East, on the night of April 8, 2006, according to Chambersburg police. Members of the department's Crime Impact Team saw what appeared to be a drug sale involving people in two vehicles, police said.

Another man, Branden L. Bibbs, 24, of 3605 Interchange Drive, drove off in one of the cars, but wrecked the car in Montgomery Alley, police said. Bibbs then ran before being taken into custody, police said.

Police said three "eight balls" of cocaine were found on Jones. Another two eight balls were found in the car Bibbs was driving, along with $990 in cash, police said.

A search of a room at the Ramada Inn the men were using turned up a loaded handgun, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $6,980, police said.

Bibbs pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver cocaine and was sentenced in January to 21 months to five years in state prison, according to court records.
