David Banks, the assistant superintendent of Morgan County Schools, will begin his three-year term as the new superintendent on July 1.

Banks, who was approved for the job by the Morgan County Board of Education on Tuesday night, will receive an annual salary of $90,000 for the first year; $92,700 for the second, and $95,481 for the third year.

Superintendent David Temple is retiring in June.

Banks said he has big shoes to follow by Temple and former superintendent Steve Paine, who is now the state Board of Education superintendent.
