Matt Umberger walked with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run in the opening game as Hagerstown Community College defeated Globe, 2-1, on Saturday. Mark Knight had two hits.

The Hawks (25-19) unloaded their bats in the second game for a 12-4 victory.

Corey Eisenhart had two hits and two RBI to lead the Hawks. Tyler Beard had three hits, and Jacob Darr, Matt Byers and David Zaminski had two hits each.

Clement wins 800

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Hagerstown Community College's Tony Clement won the 800-meter run in 1:52.92 at the third annual Paul Kaiser Classic.

Marques Sneed, a former HCC All-American competing for Hagerstown's Cumberland Valley Athletic Club, placed seventh in the 800 in 1:58.65.

Angie Rhoderick-McKinley, another former HCC athlete competing for the CVAC, was second in the women's 5,000 in 19:12.92.


Two aces recorded

At Fountain Head Country Club, Hagerstown golfer Wayne Ridenour posted a hole-in-one. Ridenour aced the 170-yard 16th hole. He was playing with Bert Iseminger, Jim Johnson and Dave Birkhauser.

At Beaver Creek Country Club, Perry Fisher knocked in a shot on the 130-yard third hole with an 8-iron. He was playing with Peter Wesp, Bill Morrow, Al Gardner and Larry Gibson.

Beaver Creek men lose

Beaver Creek dropped a 9-8 match to Breton Bay in the quarterfinals of the Maryland State Golf Association Men's Team Championship. Breton Bay is the defending champion.
