O'Neill Physical Therapy Services

Brenda DeSutter-Gue, physical therapist with O'Neill Physical Therapy Services, recently attended a course, "Integrating the Feldenkrais Method with Orthopedic Therapy and Exercise Rehabilitation Programs."

The course focused on teaching patients proper posture and movement techniques to reduce pain throughout the body. The exercise principles are based on using fluid movement with proper motor control.

Lorraine O'Neill, Brenda DeSutter-Gue and Judy Zube, physical therapists, and Leigh Martin and Jenn Robertson, physical therapy assistants at O'Neill Physical Therapy Services, and colleagues from the University of Maryland, recently taught the course, "Evaluation and Treatment of Shoulder Injuries."


The course focused on the evaluation and treatment of rotator cuff injuries and impingement syndrome.


SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Contemporary American Theatre Festival (CATF) has two new staff members, Margaret McKowen and Lissa Cobetto.

McKowen is CATF's associate producing director. She previously was chair of the Division of Theatre and Dance at West Virginia University and participated with the University/Resident Theatre Association, Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and National Association of Schools. She also previously worked as a freelance designer.

Cobetto is CATF's new business manager. She started in professional theater at the Pittsburgh Public Theater and the City Theatre Co., worked for George and Christine Romero on the film "Creepshow" and pursued filmmaking in New York City. In 1986, she shifted her career focus to multimedia.

Cobetto has a master's degree in interactive telecommunications from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and worked with some of the top companies in the industry.

Massage Therapy Clinic

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Courtney Clingman, a licensed esthetician, has joined Chambersburg Massage Therapy Clinic's staff of professional therapists.

Clingman, of Hagerstown, will provide facials, waxing and makeup services.

She is a graduate of the Von Lee International School of Aesthetics Inc. in Pikesville, Md. She has a license from the state of Pennsylvania in the field of esthetics and is certified in Dermalogica Skin Care products.

First United Insurance Group

William A. "Tony" Whiteman has joined First United Insurance Group as a commercial lines account executive.

He has more than 11 years of property and casualty insurance experience.

Whiteman, of Ridgeley, W.Va., is an accredited adviser in insurance with an AAI designation.

Agent Ed Rude has joined RE/MAX Achievers of Hag-erstown.

He is joining the Don Beaver/Nick Mecozzi team as a buyer's agent.

FREDERICK, Md. - James R. Knight, senior aviation technical specialist in the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association's (AOPA's) Pilot Information Center, recently commemorated 10 years of service.

Knight, of Hagerstown, serves as an information specialist to AOPA's more than 410,000 members, providing solutions to issues ranging from learning to fly to pilot certification to aircraft ownership.

Valley Quarries Inc.

Eight Valley Quarries Inc. drivers, with a combined record of 241 years of accident-free driving, were honored recently at the company's annual safety banquet.

Loy M. McEldowney, a driver for Valley Quarries' Chambersburg Transit, has driven for Valley Quarries for 41 years without an accident.

James E. Johns, Chambersburg Transit, was honored for 34 years of safe driving and Donald L. Durf, Shippensburg Quarry, was recognized for driving accident-free for 29 years.

Having 28 years of accident-free driving were: Douglas E. Shatzer, Chambersburg Quarry; Larry A. Fritz, Chambersburg Transit; and Eric L. Boyd and Gary L. Baer, both drivers for Shippensburg Transit.

Randy Shew, Chambersburg Transit, recorded 25 years of accident-free driving.

A total of 43 drivers were honored for a combined 412 years of safe driving.


Mlend mortgage company announced that Don Giffin was March's top producer in the Chambersburg, Pa., retail operation.

Stacey Moler was March's top producer in the Frederick, Md., retail operation.

Michele Payton was the March top producer in Shepherdstown, W.Va.


Psychology Associate I, Amber Booth, was named Employee of the Month for April at the Maryland Correctional Training Center.

Booth has gone beyond her requested duties to fulfill institutional needs, according to a prepared release.

She has worked at the Maryland Correctional Training Center south of Hagerstown since July 2006.
