Woman's dispute with medic leads to charges

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A woman who apparently requested medical attention was arrested Thursday night after allegedly becoming hostile with the EMS responders who came to her aid, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records

Donna Sue Thurston, 54, of no fixed address, was arraigned on misdemeanor counts of obstructing a police officer, public intoxication, battery on a medic and battery on a law enforcement officer, according to court records.

Thurston was arrested about 5 p.m. along South Queen Street by Martinsburg Police Department Patrolman E.C. Neely, records show.

Neely alleged in his complaint that Thurston began arguing with a medic who responded and was taking note of her personal information, then turned around and pushed another medic who arrived to help her.

She later allegedly pushed Neely in the chest, and the officer responded by deploying Taser darts, according to the complaint.

Vehicles vandalized

Deputies were investigating vandalism to about 25 vehicles parked on Gardenview Road in Maugansville, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Department press release.

Eggs were thrown at the vehicles on April 21 between about midnight and 3:30 a.m., according to the release.

Each car will cost about $500 to repair, according to the release.
