The Sandys

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sandy Sr. of Rohrersville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. A surprise dinner was given in their honor.

The Sandys were married Dec. 30, 1956, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Rohrersville.

Mrs. Sandy is the former Florence Plunkert, daughter of the late Charles and Dorthy Plunkert of Frederick, Md. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Sandy is the son of the late Joseph and Eva Sandy of Rohrersville. He was employed with the State of Maryland as a park ranger before his retirement.


They have two married sons, two daughters and two grandsons.

The Lennartzes

Mr. and Mrs. William Lennartz celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, April 8, 2007, at the Shook Home in Chambersburg, Pa. The Lennartzes moved to the retirement community last month.

Clara Jean and William "Bill" Lennartz were married in 1947 in Lewistown, Pa. They met as juniors in high school and married after Bill Lennartz returned from World War II. They began their married life together in Buffalo, N.Y. Clara Jean Lennartz worked as a telephone operator in Buffalo, and Bill Lennartz began a position as a butcher. Eventually, their careers brought them back to the Chambersburg area, where they have spent most of their married lives.

The Lennartzes have four children, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Forrests

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip R. Forrest of Chewsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 29, 2007, at Mountain Gate Family Restaurant in Waynesboro, Pa.

The Forrests were married at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Hagerstown on March 27, 1957. The Rev. Robert Delp officiated the ceremony.

Mrs. Forrest is the former Mary Ellen Newlin, daughter of the late Enoch Newlin and Marie (Newlin) Plante. Mr. Forrest is the son of the late Phillip and Marjorie Forrest.

The anniversary celebration and dinner was given by Mrs. Forrest's sister and brothers and their spouses.
