Administrative professional receives chapter's top award

April 26, 2007

Susan Hart has been named 2007 Administrative Professional of the Year by the Hager Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals.

But precautions were taken so she didn't find out before the big announcement April 22 at a brunch at the Beaver Creek Country Club.

Her husband Randy, son Randy Jr., daughter Desirae, and executive Pamela McAfee - all under an oath of silence - hid in the lobby waiting to hear Susan's name.

Since she enjoys cooking, the various clues to the winner's identify were opened as ingredients and popped into a bowl while stirring up the dish. The last clue, a collector of Indian figurines, pointed conclusively to Susan as the winner.

Coreen Leonard, president of the Hager Chapter, presented the award. State Sen. Donald F. Munson presented the proclamations from both the Senate of Maryland and the state, signed by Gov. Martin O'Malley. She also received a Hagerstown proclamation, signed by Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II.

Hart is an assistant to McAfee and to the Total Rehab Care Department at Washington County Hospital.

A newer chapter member, Hart became involved immediately in several committees.

"She has jumped right in and has taken a very active part in the chapter," the chapter said in a press release. "It is a well-deserved achievement."

The annual award, which honors a member's work during the past year, is given during Administrative Professional Week, which is the last week in April.

The Hager Chapter named its first Secretary of the Year in 1957. In recent years, the name has changed to Administrative Professional of the Year.
