Gospel Explosion to usher 11 acts to West Virginia stage

April 26, 2007|by TIFFANY ARNOLD

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Mighty Sons of Faith will headline A Gospel Explosion on Saturday night at The Living Room church.

Eleven acts, including a Christian comedian, a poet and several dance groups, are expected to perform at the four-hour concert, said organizer Robert Richard II.

Tickets to the event are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

Based in the Washington, D.C., area, The Mighty Sons of Faith include a four-man vocal group and a six-piece band. They have recorded and distributed two self-produced albums since they formed three years ago, said Richard, who also is a member of the group.

He said the group aims to use music to express God's love for everyone, regardless of their pasts. Richard said religion helped him overcome drug and alcohol addictions.

"We want to show that God is a God of second chance," said Richard, who lives in Martinsburg.

Richard, who organized a similar concert last year, said live footage of Saturday's show will be available on DVD and CD at The Living Room at the end of Saturday's concert.
