South students learn about business dining

Members of the South Hagerstown High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America and the Washington County Academy of Finance recently dined at Nick's Airport Inn and received formal instruction in the rules for business dining, according to a South Hagerstown High School press release.

Nick's Airport Inn maitre d' John Seminara instructed the group on table settings, ordering and appropriate topics of conversation at a formal business dinner meeting.

Members learned that a strong knowledge of business etiquette can enhance business growth, according to the release.

Attending the business dinner were Al Martin, City of Hagerstown finance director and Academy of Finance Board of Directors chairman; Laurie Bender, Washington County Health System internal audit director and AOF board member; and C. JoAnne Knode, Academy of Finance instructor.

Students in attendance were Joe Bender, Jennifer Bezerra, Casey Carpenter, Kelly Carson, Stephanie Edwards, Amanda Feigley, Brittany Funk, Rebecca Kennedy, Harry Ondoa, Michael Spalding, Cory Shank, Cassandra Vasquez, Devin Witman and Nick Ziolowski.

The Washington County Academy of Finance provides an academic program that focuses on a concentrated study of the financial services industry.
