Supervisory training being offered

April 23, 2007

For the fifth year, the Washington County Department of Social Services is offering free two-day supervisory training for employers in Washington County.

The first two-day session, scheduled for May 16 and 17 at Shepherds Spring Retreat and Conference Center, has been filled.

Due to popular demand, a second two-day training session is being considered.

The training addresses day-to-day challenges for supervisors, such as improving retention, motivating strategies, job coaching, reducing supervisory stress, and identifying and learning how to diffuse issues before they become problems.

Dr. Tom Beecroft, licensed psychologist and professor of psychology, will conduct the training.

Washington County employers who are interested in sending supervisors to this free training should contact Sandy Martin in Social Service's Family Investment Division at 240-420-2261 for more information.

The Washington County Department of Social Services is a field office of the Maryland Department of Human Resources under the direction of Gov. Martin O'Malley and Secretary Brenda Donald.
