Cops check school after threat

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Department investigated a bomb threat Friday morning at Hedgesville High School, according to a 911 dispatcher.

The dispatcher said the call about the bomb threat came in at 11:12 a.m. Deputies were at the school until 12:47 p.m., according to the sheriff's department.

School officials and investigating officers were unavailable Friday night.

On Thursday morning, James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg, Pa., was evacuated after a bomb threat was found written in lipstick on a bathroom wall. No bomb was found, according to Mercersburg police.

Also Thursday, Shippensburg (Pa.) University canceled evening classes after a suspicious package was found outside Wright Hall. The package turned out to be a box of paper, according to university officials.
