The Shanks

Daniel and Pearl Shank of Williamsport were honored with a surprise 60th wedding anniversary dinner March 27, 2007. The dinner was hosted by their son Jake and his wife, Debbra, son Ronnie and his wife, Teresa, and daughter Daisy Green and her husband, Mike.

The Shanks were married March 27, 1947, by the Rev. G.I. Rider, now deceased, at Grace Evangelist United Brethren Church in Hagerstown.

Guests who attended the event included grandchildren Bobbie Shank and his wife, Kathy; Kristie Morgan and her husband, Doug; Jeb Shank and his wife, Ashley; and Julie Shank. Several great-grandchildren also attended the event.


The Keefers

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Keefer Jr. of Clear Spring were honored with a surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Western Sizzlin Steak House in Hagerstown.

The luncheon was hosted by their daughter, Brenda L. Keefer.

The Keefers were married Dec. 31, 1956, by the Rev. Robert E. Easterday at Blair's Valley First Church of God, near Clear Spring.

Mrs. Keefer is the former Shirley R. Swain of Hancock, daughter of the late William Webster and Maxine (Schriver) Swain. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Keefer is the son of the late Joseph Elwood Keefer and Mildred (Younker) Keefer. He is retired from Bragunier Masonry.

The couple will be going to Maggie Valley, N.C., in October for a week's vacation as a gift from their daughter.
