MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Two men were taken to City Hospital after being assaulted Thursday night by two males in an armed robbery outside an exotic dance club near Martinsburg, according to West Virginia State Police.

Though he did not investigate the incident, Sgt. S.E. Davis did not believe the injuries the victims received while in the Legz Club parking lot at 80 Aero St. were life-threatening.

Referring to information compiled by State Police Troopers D.S. See, J.S. Chumley and M.D. Gillmore, Davis said the men and a woman arrived in the club's parking lot about 11:30 p.m. when two black males approached the vehicle.

One of the suspects knocked on the front window on the passenger side and asked for a cigarette, then displayed a weapon and demanded the victim's money, police said.

At some point, the second suspect reached into the driver's side of the vehicle and snatched the keys to stop the victims' attempt to get away, said Davis, who indicated all three people in the car were thought to have been robbed.

Davis said the front passenger in the car was struck in the head with the butt of the gun after one suspect didn't believe he was getting all of the victim's money, police said.

The suspects fled from the club in a dark Volkswagen Jetta, police said.

Anyone with information about the armed robbery may call the Martinsburg detachment of the West Virginia State Police at 304-267-0001.
