West Hagerstown Lions Club meets

April 20, 2007

Optician Barbara Leatherman and Will Rice of the Francis Scott Key Lions Club spoke at the April 2 meeting of the West Hagerstown Lions Club.

Leatherman and Rice told club members that they went to a village in Panama in August 2006, with a medical team of doctors and nurses. They set up an eye clinic to distribute the used eyeglasses they had collected. Barbara Porter of the Francis Scott Key Lions distributed donated pharmaceuticals.

The Lions were very enthusiastic about the many villagers they helped, and they are eager to go again next year with more supplies.

On April 24, the West Hagerstown Lions Club will host the Leader Dog Banquet at Washington Square United Methodist Church on Washington Avenue. A roast beef dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per person. For details, call Donna Jackman at 301-790-2036.
