Nursing students offered program



Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education is offering nursing students a four-day course to prepare for the NCLEX exam. The course will be May 22 to 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the HCC Valley Mall Center.

The course gives students more than 2,000 NCLEX-type questions, a student course guide and eight-week access to an online course. To find out more course information, visit http://PassNclex.Drexel.edu.

Student artwork to be on display



The Hagerstown Community College Student Art Exhibit will be April 30 to May 4 in the lobby of Kepler Theater. An opening reception will be April 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the theater.

Works in photography, graphic design, painting, drawing and mixed media will be displayed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.




Sewing class to be offered at HCC



A sewing class for ages 11 to 16 is being offered through Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education on June 2, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the HCC Valley Mall Center. The class is titled "Wow! Cool Jeans!"

Instructor Barbara Allen will show students how to turn an old pair of jeans into a skirt or handbag using fabric, trim, buttons and patches. Students need to bring scissors, seam ripper, measuring tape, marking pencil, ruler, straight pins and some fun ideas about how they would like their completed project to look.

Guitar orchestra to perform in May



Hagerstown Community College's Guitar Orchestra will perform a concert May 2 at 7:30 p.m. in HCC's classroom building auditorium.

The theme of the program is "Great Melodies" and will feature compositions such as "Habanera" from Carmen, Pachelbel's "Canon in D" and more. The program will include works performed by the entire orchestra, as well as guitar duets and trios.

Lead paint abatement class to be offered



Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education is offering a course for contractors and employees responsible for supervising workers performing lead-based abatement projects in school buildings, public and commercial/industrial facilities.

"Lead Paint Abatement and Demolition Contractor/Supervisor" will be May 10, 11, 14 and 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on the HCC campus.

The course meets federal lead-based Paint Model Accreditation Program requirements. Extensive hands-on training sessions are completed as part of each session. This course is approved by the Maryland Department of the Environment and the EPA.
