Silver medalists

The Hub City Hornets 15U volleyball team finished second in the Gold Division at the 2007 Revoutionary Rumble in Williamsburg, Va. The Hornets finished Saturday's pool play with a second and a first and followed with a first in pool play Sunday morning, advancing them to the semifinals of the Gold Division. The Hornets won their semifinal match, beating NVVA Fairfax G, but lost in the finals to NVVA Fairfax P. The Hornets finished the weekend with a match play record of 14-7, with four of their losses against the eventual champion.

Alison Griffith had 46 kills, 27 aces, 49 points and 82 digs; Macy Fuscsick had 62 points, 100 percent serving, 76 assists and seven kills; Cortney Silvis added 41 kills, six blocks, 27 points and 57 digs; Callan Spicher had 32 points, 13 aces, 19 kills, and 56 digs; Laurin Smith added 17 kills, three blocks and 36 digs; Becca Demers had 24 points, 37 assists, 10 kills and 31 digs; Lindsey Gish added 18 points, 12 aces, 19 assists and eight kills; Amanda Bussard had 10 points and 12 digs; Lauren Martin had 11 digs and three kills; and Jessica Mazelon added nine points, eight kills and two blocks.

The Hornets, coached by Wendi Smith and Brian Smith, have finished third at the Columbia 15U Invitational and the Wild Blue 15/16U Invitational this season. They played in the Gold Division Pool at the CHRVA 15U Regional Championships, where they were ranked fifth out of the 40 teams that participated.
