Suns split pair

April 17, 2007

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Francisco Guzman and Mike Daniel each homered in the five-run fifth inning to lift the Hagerstown Suns to a 7-4 win over Greensboro Monday in the opener of a morning doubleheader.

The Grasshoppers won the nightcap, 5-4.

The Suns trailed 4-1 heading into the fifth until Guzman stroked a two-run shot, his first, off Greensboro starter Graham Taylor (2-1). Michael Martinez and Stephen King followed with one-out singles to set the stage for Daniel's blast to right, his third of the season.

Daniel also doubled home an insurance run in the seventh to finish with four RBI. Matthew Perks (1-2) won in relief.

The Suns fell short in a comeback try in the nightcap after falling behind 4-1 and 5-2, with the second run coming in the fifth on Daniel's solo home run.
