Fundraiser

More than 300 hopeful people packed the American Legion in McConnellsburg, Pa., on Sunday, March 25. for a chance to win a Fatboy Harley Davidson motorcycle in a fundraiser for the Fulton County Medical Center's building project.

Dr. John Caruso, a Hagerstown neurosurgeon, purchased the winning ticket, which was drawn from among 400 tickets sold. Dr. Caruso is a specialist at the medical center's specialty clinic.

Entertainment was sponsored by the First National Bank of Greencastle, Pa., Chris Woodward and Shin-diggin, along with special guest Emily Centi, sang right up until the drawing took place at 2:30 p.m.

Two attendees also won cash prizes. The second prize of $1,000 was won by Thomas Wellman of Littlestown, Pa., and the third prize of $500 was won by Tracy Abbott of McConnellsburg.

Dozens of door prizes were also awarded to those in attendance. The event netted just under $20,000 toward building the center's $37.5 million replacement facility, which is scheduled to open in December of this year.

The center still needs to raise just over $500,000 to meet its fundraising goal.
