PennDOT to have say over future intersection

April 12, 2007|by JENNIFER FITCH

QUINCY, PA. - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will be responsible for deciding whether to install a traffic circle at the intersection of Pa. 997 and Washington Township Boulevard, according to Washington Township Manager Mike Christopher.

Christopher attended a meeting with PennDOT and representatives of Quincy Township on Wednesday.

A traffic study conducted for a nearby housing development will help PennDOT reach its decision, Christopher said. PennDOT has the legal authority to change intersections it deems impacted by development elsewhere, he said.

"There is apparently no funding available - in the short-term at least - for a roundabout," Christopher said.
